How this works▾
Two lenses on the same match. One reads the result — who should win. The other reads the state— who's feeling it today. Football is decided by both, which is why favourites get upset.
📊 Data lens — paper strength
Pure form-on-paper: a team's FIFA ranking and Elo rating mapped onto a 0–100 scale. It knows nothing about the calendar — only who is, historically, the stronger side. On its own it calls the winner of most matches, so this is the lens that drives the prediction.
✨ Stars lens — match-day energy
The intangibles a strength rating can't see — confidence, rhythm, the off-day. Each player gets a personal energy reading for that specific date(the same engine behind the natal-chart tool); a team's number is the squad's weighted average. It doesn't pick the winner — talent does that — it colors the state: who's on song, the likely scoreline shape, the day a side might wobble. The same teams on another date would read differently. For fun, not a forecast.
🤝 Consensus — the blend
A weighted mix, controlled by the Strength / Form slider below (default Data-led). Watch for the “models disagree”banner — strength favours one side but the energy leans the other way. We don't claim that beats the bookmakers; it's simply the match with the best story.
The dials you can turn
Strength / Form blend — how much the Consensus leans on hard data vs. match-day energy. Updates live, no re-read needed.
Star player influence— how heavily marquee players (★/⭐) pull the Stars lens. ×0 treats every player equally; ×1 is normal; ×2 doubles a superstar's influence on their team's energy.
Squad depth — score the starting XI only, or the full squad. Re-reads the energy for whichever set you pick.
Changing Star player influence or Squad depth needs a re-read (the energy is recomputed server-side); the Strength / Form slider is instant.
Compare players
Below the prediction you can pit players against each other on their match-day energy. Squad averageticks any set of players (default: the day's starters) and compares the group averages; Head-to-head lets you tap one player per side for a direct 1-v-1.
